Barcelona Stars Get €4m Bonus From Joan Laporta For Historic 6-2 Win At Madrid

Labels:

Barcelona have regarded their 6-2 win against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernebeu late last season as another trophy in itself to add to their grand treble.

And the Blaugrana players would have had even more reason to celebrate after it was revealed that they were offered a bonus by their president, Joan Laporta.

According to Sport, the Barcelona chief had promised to dish out a total of €4 million, or €200,000 each, for the 25 players in the squad if they managed to win at the Bernabeu back in early May.

And Barcelona superstars delivered in style as they handed their ferocious foes one of their worst Clasico defeats in history - and, in the process, all but guaranteed that the Primera Division trophy would be heading back to the Camp Nou.

But that wasn’t the only payment Joan Laporta had to part with. The Barcelona based daily reports that the players had also been promised €3m if they made it all the way to the final of the Champions League and another €1m for the Copa del Rey.

All in all, the Catalan club had to sacrifice €8m in various bonuses, an amount that has affected their transfer budget for this summer. But not surprisingly, Sport believes that the 'cost' of the historic win was worth its weight in gold.
