Messi Calls For Javier Mascherano To Join Barcelona

Labels:

Lionel Messi has repeated his call for Mascherano to join him at Barcelona amid speculation that the Liverpool midfielder could be set to leave Anfield this summer.

The Argentinean forward has voiced his desire for his compatriot to move to Barcelona in recent weeks and now he has done so once more by claiming he wants to play in the same team as him.

Barca have been linked with a move for Javier Mascherano, but Liverpool are not keen to sell.

"Of course I would like him to join, who would not want to play with great players like Javier Mascherano. I hope he can come here," lionel Messi told El Mundo Deportivo.

Lionel Messi is also aiming high next year as he hopes to help Barcelona add more trophies to this season's treble haul and then help his country to win the World Cup.

"There are two things I would wish for and the first is that Barca can win more trophies and the second is for Argentina to win the World Cup next year," he continued.

"We can dream about another treble, but it will be extremely difficult."

Asked whether he felt €94 million for Ronaldo was excessive, Messi was adamant that it was down to the clubs involved.

"If there is a club that sells and a club willing to buy then that is that. I am not going to enter into the rights and wrongs because that is not my place, I just play," he explained.

"It does seem like a big fee, but as I have said it is not really my place."

Whether Real Madrid's big spending would help them topple Barcelona was something that Lionel Messi was not sure about as he thinks that Barcelona already have a team.

"We will see. It seems that Madrid are building a good team, but we already have one and we will see if we can continue," he added.
