Henrique Join To Barcelona

Labels:

Henrique Adriano Buss was signed by Barca from Palmeiras for €8 million last summer before being shipped out on loan to Bayer Leverkusen.

The 22 year old made quite an impression with the German outfit but missed out on Barcelona treble winning success. The centre back is now ready to return to his parent club, although arcelona have yet to decide whether or not to reel him back permanently.

Speaking to Sport in a lengthy interview, the player himself certainly feels that he has become Barcelona material after being exposed to football in Europe in the Bundesliga.

“I am feeling very well… very happy. I signed for Barcelona a year ago and after a very positive experience at Bayer Leverkusen, I feel satisfied. Now I am resting, but my head is 100 per cent with Barcaelona,” he told the sports daily while on his holidays back in Coritiba.

“I am looking forward to the discussions the club and my agent will have this week. At the moment, I am calm. My desire is to be at Barca on the 20th [of July] to begin the preseason.

“I believe that is very important for me because I want to join up with my Barcelona team mates and let Pep Guardiola see what I can do. This opportunity is fundamental to my career.

“But if Barcelona decide to loan me out again, I will accept their decision without any problems, although I would prefer to play with a club in the Spanish Primera Division.”

With Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique and Rafael Marquez holding down the three main centre back positions, Henrique is aware that he will have his work cut out to break into the first team.

“Ever since I started playing for the youth teams, I have always had to work to earn my place,” he explained.

“It’s the same with all the teams I have ever played for. Not many people know of me when I first arrived at a new club but I always end up being a regular because of my hard work and humility.

“With all due respect to the other players, I believe that I can also become a regular at Barca.”

Highly rated Martin Caceres failed to adapt at the Camp Nou following his arrival from Recreativo Huelva last summer and when Henrique was asked if he could fit into a Barcelona back line constantly exposed to counterattacks, he replied, “Yes, I believe that I can.

“I saw a lot of the team’s matches and I must say, with humility, that I fit the profile to become a Barcelona centre back. I am fast and one of my best characteristics is to play the ball out from the back.

“It is what I like to do and it’s always been my game because to show your superiority, you have to start from the back. I believe that at Barcelona, I will be able to show my true potential as a player.”

Finally, Henrique reiterated his desire to begin his career with Barcelona.

“Ever since I signed for Barca, I have always felt a part of this winning project,” he assured.

“I have been following the team every single step of the way up until they conquered the treble. I was very happy everytime they won and throughout the entire time I was working in Germany, I was thinking about Barcelona.”
