The Catalan's Treble Success Forcing R Madrid To Spend Big The Blaugrana boss is showing no signs of letting up as he contin - Joan Laporta

It may sound all too obvious, but FCBarcelona presiden J Laporta has pointed out how his side’s stunning ‘triplete’ triumph last season has pressured R Madrid into an uncontrollable spending spree in the transfer market.

Madrid's re-instated chief, F Perez, has drawn incessant criticism from Joan Laporta and large parts of the football community for dishing out close to €68 million to sign Ricardo Kaka and another €94 million to ristiano Ronaldo.

“Our treble success has forced R Madrid to spend compulsively and that has distorted the market,” he said during a quick interview with reporters while he attended yesterday’s Catalunya Moto GP.

“Florentino Perez makes signings based on preferential treatment and he is only showing off his arrogance.”

Seemingly under some pressure to announce a few major signings of his own, Joan Laporta was quick to assure that there will be news of transfer activity in the Catalan camp shortly.

“We will make important adjustments in order to give the team a fresh boost,” he declared.

“We wo not let anyone dictate the pace of our work but there will be news soon.”

Aside from focusing on recruiting new players, the Catalan board is also busy negotiating contract extensions for several key players including the cameroonian striker S Eto’o and the goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
