Barcelona Monitoring Pepe Reina

Labels:

El Barca are set to solidify their interest in the goalkeeper liverpool's pepe reina into a firm enquiry as they look to other options in case Victor Valdes leaves barcelona this summer, according to a report.

Barcelona believe that the Liverpool keeper is keen to return to la Primera Division and that if they can offer him a similar deal to the one he has at Anfield then a move could be on the cards.

Liverpool Manager may not be happy with the attention from Barcelona and will tell the Merseyside club's board to try and resist the European champions' overtures.

Victor Valdes contract at Barca runs out next summer and talks over a new deal broke down this week as barcelona custodian made demands of €9 million a year.

That request has meant that the club have decided to suspend talks as they have no intention of paying the player that amount and the impasse could see them go their separate ways.

Sergio Asenjo is also on the club's list, but a return to the catalan for Pepe Reina would be a popular choice and at 26 he still has his best years ahead of him.

Pepe Reina rose through the catalan ranks and made 30 first team appearances before leaving to join Villarreal in 2002, and a three year stay there concluded when he moved to Liverpool.
