Barcelona Could Be Open the Door If Valdes Doesn't Renew - Asenjo's Agent

Labels:

Sergio Asenjo's agent has said that the goalkeeper of atletico madrid is still set to sign for Atletico Madrid but that if Valdes doesn't renew with Blaugrana, that door could be open.

Today, Victor Valdes' agent revealed that at the moment they are a long way from reaching a new deal with Barcelona which will see him extend his contract beyond next year.

Hence Fernando Redondo, one of Asenjo's representatives, told AS that whilst "he hasn't received any news from Camp Nou...the door could be open if Victor Valdes doesn't renew".

"The thing that has to change is Barcea and Victor has to leave, which might be a possibility, but that is something that is not yet known," he add.

Despite his comments though, Redondo assured that they have a "good option in Atletico Madrid" and that a deal should still be clear.

"We are waiting for the Atletica Madrid to come to an agreement and for the confirmation. We aren't going to do anything yet," he add.

"Atletico Madrid are interested and so is the goalkeeper player in the sporting project, because in the last two years he has done enough to leavr.

"Now Atletico Madrid have to speak and I believe it will be next week when Jesus Garcia Pitarch and Roberto Olabe [sporting directors of Atletico Madrid and Real Valladolid respectively] will do that."

The agent also revealed that they did have an offer from Fiorentina, but they turned it down because "they have Sebastien Frey for the next four years".

"With the age that he is we have to be cautious and we want him to play, not to be a substitute. The chance to play with Atletico Madrid is very important, since the club counts on him after not renewing the goalkeeper of atletico madrid Leo Franco - something that the boy is taking very seriously," headd.
