Manchester City Face Competition From AC Milan For Samuel Eto'o

Labels:

According to a report in The Daily Mail, AC Milan are looking to hijack Manchester City's move for Samuel Eto'o.

On Thursday, it was reported that Manchester City were close to tying up a deal worth €35.2 million (£30m) for Eto'o, while on Friday it was claimed that a €29.3m (£25m) transfer was in the pipeline.

Although the 80 time capped Cameroon international, who has scored 37 goals for the Indomitable Lions, has appeared reluctant to extend his stay at Barcelona, it was thought he was prepared to remain with Barca until his contract expires at the end of next season.

However, City's mega offer has apparently convinced La Blaugrana to cash in now. Indeed, their offer to pay around €226,000 a week in wages after tax (£192,000) is thought to have tempted Eto'o.

While AC Milan may not be able to equal City's bid, it is believed they are hoping to persuade the 5ft 11in forward to move to the San Siro regardless, using their glittering history as a draw.

Inter are also said to be keeping tabs on Samuel Eto'o, but they have apparently failed to launch an official enquiry so far.
