Barcelona To Fight For Eden Hazard

Labels:

Barca are weighing up whether to make a formal offer to prise highly rated Eden Hazard away from Lille or whether to wait until next summer when he has more experience, according to a report in Sport.

The Catalan have monitored the Belgian starlet since his appearance at the Under 17 European Championships in 2007 and believe that he could be ready to join them.

But Barcelona hierarchy are wrestling with the thought that he may be better staying in France and playing regularly for Lille than joining them and playing a bit role next term.

Hazard has been watched by many of the continent's biggest sides, with interest in England particularly high as Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all made enquiries about him.

One plan that Barca are mooting is to discover Lille's asking price and then try to set up a deal that sees him loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit for a year.

Despite still only being 18, Hazard has already made four appearances for Belgium's national team after jumping straight to the highest level from the U 17 side.

Football is in the Hazard family as his younger brother Thorgan, 16, plays for Racing Club de Lens in their youth teams, however, he has yet to make the step up that Eden has.
